Its all about connection…
Being touched and caressed, being massaged, is food for the infant; food as necessary as minerals, vitamins, and proteins. Deprived of this food, the name of which is love, Babies would rather die. And often they do.

What is IBT?
At the basis of IBT there is an acknowledgement of babies as aware and sentient beings from before being born. In the last half a century, research in the fields of pre and perinatal psychlogy as well as psychotherapy , craniosacral therapy and more brought us ways of reading movements and sounds as central to how a baby is trying to communicate with us. Central to IBT is learning to ‘listen to the unspoken story’ the baby or child wishes to all. The way this is achieved is through Baby Body Language (BBL), which as practitioners we are taught to recognise. Prenatal or birth story can be expressed and emphatised with, met , so that babies/children are able to complete processes which were not completed. We learn skills like distinguishing between present moment need cry or memory cry. We learn to look out for repetitive random movements in BBL that tell us about stages before or during the birth which wish to be heard.
The modality is permission based. IBT practitioners work resourcing, supporting, being with the parents so they can deepend their bond with their child. All of this, is part of the work. Learning to distinguish a present need cry from memory cry-which expresses the need for a different level of listening and connection, this is some of the work. We achieved the important listening to the Story through learning BBL, being curious, noticing. We share resources, and ways of playing and being.
