Drawing

Drawing has been in my life since I was a child, same as dance and writing. They have always been three ways for me to connect to  expression. When I became a yoga teacher, over 25 years ago, I often compared the state of cessation of thinking and spaciousness to drawing or other activities where one feel totally absorbed. Absorbtion is actually the key word to look for in here. It didn’t have to be yoga that taught them that feeling. When is it in your life that you feel absorbed in your activity?  And…how are you when you come back from that state? Be it dancing, writing, walking, observing, writing, playing music, practicing meditation, breathwork, woodwork, praying, gardening, singing…. Below are some of my sketches, continuous line drawings, breath observation and experiments in following inner questions or emotions. I hope they give you ‘permission’ to go for it! Some kept me awake at difficult times, or got me through moments of dissociation, boredom, or kept me company in moments of pure love, joy, curiosity, frustration and more.
