Biography

Annamaria started practising in Iyengar Yoga in  1991, became an Iyengar teacher though various levels of qualifications and certifications, until reaching what is the current Level 3 and mentor level in the Iyengar system in 2020. She taught yoga full-time for around 20 years. Over the years she studied with several Senior Iyengar teachers all over the world, as well as the Iyengar family in Pune, and completed a three year course on how to work remedially in a general yoga class. She has been supporting clients one-to-one with remedial yoga since 2007.

Her main inspirations in Yoga are two great teachers she feels fortunate to have met on her way, Firooza Ali Razvi and Christian Pisano.Annamaria has been studying with Firooza Ali Razvi since 2004 and was her organiser and UK tour coordinator for about 20 years .

Her teaching voice focuses on sharing tools of listening, of enquiring, of feeling through the body to reach the soul. Her main teaching ambition is to foster independent feeling, discerning spirits, following their own path.

Annamaria is also a craniosacral therapist, trained at CCST London 2016-1017, and has studied the foundation course in core process psychotherapy at Karuna Institute, Devon, 2011. In 2019 she joined the Integrative Baby Therapy -IBT Training- with Conscious Embodiment Trainings on pre and perinatal imprints, Bristol, and completed the training in November 2023. She regularly receives supervision on her therapeutic work. During 2022-2025 Annamaria studied and completed the Certificate in Supervision with CSTD – London, The Centre for Supervision andTeam Development and now works as a supervisor for health professions and is an accredited supervisor for craniosacral therapists with CSTA UK, the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the UK.

She created and run her yoga Studio, Yoga Stable, from 2004 to 2024. Since June 2026 Lo Spazio Creativo  has become her new studio. 

Annamaria started organising as well as running yoga retreats in Scotland and Portugal in 2006 and has been running retreats since, adding also Naturally Creative retreats to the yoga retreats in 2025.During the two years of the pandemic Annamaria trained four yoga teachers in person with her 300 hours course Body Symphonies Yoga Teacher and Practitioner Training course, went to Leith School of Art and was awarderd the Drawing Award for the year in 2021. In 2022  co- founded , together with three other members,  the Yoga Studio Yoga Collective, in Edinburgh. 
In September 2022 her first solo exhibition ‘Finding Roots in Water’ opened at St Margaret’s House, Edinburgh. On March 22nd, 2024 her second solo exhibition,  ‘Earth’ opened at St Margaret’s House in Edinburgh.In September 2022.
Also in that year her first book ‘ Meanderings- Human Landscape Poetry and other Writings’ a collection of poetry and other writings, was published.
She is currently writing a second book and working on a photographic project as a collaboration with another artist- more to follow on that ….
